Classification, observation, recording… Walking into the Mingai Cashmere Goat Research Laboratory located in Suburga Town, Yijinhuoluo Banner, several scientific and technical personnel were testing the fineness of cashmere. Starting from May 9, the Mingai Cashmere Goat Research Laboratory in Suburga Town has been testing cashmere fineness for free for all production performance measurement households in the banner. 13,000 test samples are stacked in every corner of the laboratory, and the staff are conducting the testing work in an orderly manner. .
The Mingai cashmere goat is named after being produced in Mingai Township. Later, Mingai Township was withdrawn and merged into Suburga Township. Since the 1950s, locals have begun to select and breed Mongolian goats for crossbreeding. After years of careful cultivation, Mingai cashmere goats have developed the unique qualities of “two highs and one excellent” of high cashmere production, high reproduction rate, and excellent meat quality, and have become one of the most outstanding groups of white cashmere goat breeds in Inner Mongolia. In 2009, the “Mingai” white cashmere goat trademark was successfully registered. In 2019, the “Mingai” white cashmere goat trademark was recognized as a “National Well-known Trademark”.
A trace of cashmere enriches the people. At present, Suburga Town has established a development model of “breeding park construction + forage base + scientific breeding methods + brand development + industrial chain extension”. At present, the town has built six high-efficiency modern breeding parks, with farmers and herdsmen managed in groups and the penetration rate of comprehensive straw utilization reaching over 90% and 95% respectively.
At the same time, the town has built a Mingai Cashmere Goat Research Center, equipped with advanced equipment such as an embryo transfer laparoscope, a stereomicroscope, a veterinary B-ultrasound all-weather rapid detector for plush fineness and length, and a frozen semen production instrument. By providing free services such as cashmere goat breeding and production performance appraisal, we have promoted the construction of 10 breeding farms with more than 200 goats across the country. As of now, there are more than 8,000 Mingai cashmere goat farmers in the entire flag, with a total breeding population of 352,000, of which 85,000 are raised in Suburga Town.
