Not long ago, Li Xueyuan’s team used fingerprint map construction technology to give the cotton variety Xinluzao 84 a fingerprint map and QR code ID card. Now Li Xueyuan has led the team to build more than 130 Xinjiang cotton variety fingerprints and QR code ID cards, combining agronomic information, molecular fingerprint information, and specific gene identification information of Xinjiang cotton varieties to realize the identification of the identity and characteristics of cotton varieties. This technology has also obtained a national invention patent and has been promoted and applied by 10 enterprises in Xinjiang.

“Just like paternity testing, fingerprint map construction technology can identify genotypic differences in cotton varieties at the molecular level, which is more accurate and efficient than traditional field identification technology of seed traits.” Li Xueyuan explained.

“Xinjiang is a major cotton production area, but there are still many non-standard problems in the production and management of cotton varieties.” Li Xueyuan said that it is very common for Xinjiang’s cotton varieties to be diverse, with serious homogeneity and few breakthrough varieties. Problems such as lack of protection of seedintellectual property rights are common.

Against this background, Li Xueyuan led the team to jointly tackle key problems for 13 years, and formed key cotton seed technology research results based on the comprehensive collection and sorting of Xinjiang’s main cotton varieties, regional trial varieties, and new variety protection samples. This achievement creates a Xinjiang cotton DNA identification system, constructs an SSR-DNA fingerprint database of Xinjiang upland cotton varieties, forms cotton variety information big data, and realizes digital, convenient and intelligent variety management. >, filling the gap in the construction of Xinjiang cotton variety fingerprints.
