On August 14, 2018, Health Canada announced a recall of Chinese-made children’s jackets.
The recalled product is Calikids’ children’s nylon waterproof jacket with a drawstring at the bottom, model number S1654. Sizes range from 2T to 6Y, available in blue, pink, red, and yellow.
The drawstring of this product will become entangled on slides, handrails, school bus doors or other moving objects, posing a risk of children becoming entangled.
The recalled products were sold in Canada from March 2016 to July 2018, with approximately 3,238 units sold.
As of August 7, 2018, no reports of accidents or casualties have been received.
Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop removing drawstrings from jackets.
