Bangladesh’s garment exports to the United States top half of US$1 billion

According to a report by Financial Express on August 16, Bangladesh exported US$2.7 billion of ready-made garments to the United States in the first half of 2018. During the same period, China exported US$11.27 billion of ready-made garments to the United States, a year-on-year decrease of 2%. Industry insiders in Bangladesh said that it is expected that China’s garment exports to the United States may continue to decline in the future, but problems such as the long time and low added value of Bangladesh’s garment export make it difficult for Bangladesh to benefit from it. Bangladesh should work hard to improve poor port and other infrastructure facilities and maintain its advantages in garment exports.
