On November 17, 2016, Health Canada and Sock and Accessory Brands Global jointly announced a voluntary recall of infant and toddler pajamas made in China.
The products recalled this time are “JohnDeere” brand infant and toddler pajamas, suitable for infants aged 6 to 9 months. The product number is LP65188, the style code is JFZ54WM, and the UPC code is 84026915276. The pajamas feature green and yellow tractor cartoons throughout.
Ten units of the recalled products were sold at Martin Deerline, Edmonton, and AB stores in Canada from August 2016 to October 2016. The reason for the recall is that Health Canada’s sampling tests determined that the above toys did not meet the requirements of Canadian law regarding the flammability of children’s pajamas. Children’s loose-fitting pajamas are more likely to come into contact with ignition sources such as stoves, candles and matches than tight-fitting pajamas. Once ignited, loose pajamas will burn quickly and may cause severe burns over large areas of a child’s body. Therefore, cotton is not allowed in loose fitting pajamas fabrics. To date, Health Canada and SABG have not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the use of this product. Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop keeping children away from the recalled products and return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. Canada implements voluntary recall of infant and toddler pajamas made in China
